A communications and marketing professional with 20 years of experience in higher education, Linda Bonnin was named vice president for strategic communications at The University of Alabama on October 9, 2015.
“Linda brings a strongly creative approach to problem-solving, a talent for team-building and an outstanding record of success in marketing and promotion,” said UA President Dr. Stuart R Bell. “We are excited that she is joining our communications team.”
Bonnin previously served as vice president for strategic communications at Louisiana State University. Prior to joining LSU in 2014, she served as vice president for communications, public relations and marketing at the University of Memphis, where she worked for 17 years.
Bonnin reports directly to Bell and serves as his chief communications adviser. She leads UA’s communications, marketing, media relations and related functions, and oversees institutional branding.
In addition to her higher education background, Bonnin also has experience in the private sector, government and media. She has won numerous awards from professional associations for her work in advertising, video, publications and marketing.
“I look forward to working with President Bell and his team to communicate the University’s many successes and to continue building upon its strong reputation,” said Bonnin.
“The University of Alabama has experienced unprecedented growth over the last decade, making it the fastest growing flagship in the nation, and I am honored to be part of this great community of faculty, students and staff.”
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bonnin is a graduate of Harding University.
